Join us on our luxurious 39' sailboat with all the comforts of a small cottage, including cabins for changing, a full washroom with shower, dining above and below decks for up to 8 guests, a stocked kitchen, and a swim deck (with another shower) for diving off the boat at anchor. Our charters are full service affairs, where our crew takes care of you from the moment you arrive - pouring drinks, clearing plates, fetching phones and sunscreen, and generally catering to your needs. Price: $600 per hour, 2-hours minimum booking Our Captain - Russ - has sailed around the world and returned to Niagara to introduce new sailors to the magic and peace of sailing life. Russ holds his commercial Captain's license from Transport Canada, Black Diamond is Blue Decal approved (equipped with all safety standards required by TC), and we carry full commercial operating insurance (unlike many "charters" you might find in the area). We operate out of Port Dalhousie, Ontario - which may very well be the last great beach town on Lake Ontario. Port offers an incredible array of things to do before and after your charter, including two long piers for walking (and people watching), a historic lighthouse, a long, beautiful beach with safe, warm water, and dozens of restaurants and cafes to sate any appetite. Come experience the joys of Port Dalhousie with a unique view from the water!
You’ll get directions to the departure location when you make a booking.
Full refund up to 7 days prior.
Tips for our passengers You’ll be meeting us at the commercial dock in Port Dalhousie, most easily accessed from the (free) parking lot at 57 Lakeport Road. If the lot is full, you can usually park on the other side of the building (the brick condo) in the vacant looking lot with the chain fence. That lot isn’t monitored. Our boat is just down the stairs from the lot – we’re a black-hulled sailboat. All guests must sign a waiver, which is attached to your booking (click through in the confirmation email you were sent). You can forward that link to your whole party. Guardians may sign one waiver on behalf of themselves and any minors that are accompanying them (please identify everyone by full name). Each passenger under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult; one adult per child guest. No shoes are worn on board. Bring or wear layers, as the weather on the water can be different than you’re experiencing on land. If you’d like to swim, bring a suit and a towel. There are cabins and a washroom for changing, as well as showers for rinsing off after. Wear sunscreen – topical only, no sprays. Even on cloudy days, the sun will refract and reflect off the lake. Arrive 15 minutes before your sail. Our departure time depends on you, but our return to dock time is set by schedule. There is no smoking or vaping on board at any time. Feel free to bring snacks, although we are providing food and sparkling water. Snacks should not be greasy or brightly coloured (including bright fruits). You may bring alcohol, but we aren’t a booze cruise. White wines, coolers, beer, cider, sparkling wines and other light drinks are preferred. Drunkenness will not be tolerated. If you’re coming from outside Niagara, please give yourself ample extra time, particularly on weekends. Driving times in the region can be double what you’d see on Google during a midafternoon search. Port Dalhousie (where you’ll meet us) is a charming little town with lots to do if you get here early. Come explore the beach, get an ice cream, have a coffee, walk the pier and check out the lighthouse, or stop for lunch or a drink at one of a dozen lovely patios, all within walking distance of the boat. Terms and Conditions Made between our company and all guests, passengers, and representative(s) of customers (herein Customer). 1. Premises and Access: Our company agrees to make available to the Customer the vessel identified as Black Diamond VI (the Vessel) for the Term as herein defined. The Customer may board the Vessel at the dock adjacent to Lockhart Point in Port Dalhousie, St Catharines (closest to street address 57 Lakeport Road, St Catharines). We reserve the right to adjust the boarding location based on conditions on site. Alternate boarding locations will be convenient to the primary access dock. 2. Parking: This agreement includes no consideration for parking on premises. The dock at 57 Lakeport Road is convenient to a turning circle for unloading personnel and equipment, but it is the Customer’s responsibility to locate and pay for parking. Pay lots are available nearby. 3. Rules On Board: The Vessel is under the command of the officer in charge, typically the Captain. The commanding officer has absolute authority on board, and is responsible for the safety of occupants, the crew, the marine environment, and the Vessel. The following rules are made to respect that safety: i) Only white-soled boat shoes are permitted to be worn on board. Any other footwear must be removed prior to boarding and will be stowed. ii) No smoking or vaping of any kind is permitted anywhere on the Vessel, at dock or at sea. iii) No animals are permitted on board. iv) Aerosols and pump spray lotions are not permitted. Sun protection is highly encouraged and must come in the form of topical lotion. No oils are permitted. v) No balloons or other disposable props (like confetti or rice) are permitted. vi) Occupants must demonstrate sufficient mobility for their own safety. A body weight of 125 kg or 275 lbs is typically the maximum viable for safe movement through and around the ship. vii) No coloured, greasy, or messy foods or liquids are permitted. Please discuss catering options with us in advance of your arrival to prevent disappointment. viii) Nothing may be thrown overboard at any point for any reason, including food product. ix) Only bodily functions and the paper provided are permitted to be flushed down the toilet. Any other object, including hygiene products, flushed in the toilet will cause a blockage and incur a punitive repair and cleaning fee that starts at $500 and may exceed $2,000 if the macerator motor is damaged. A waste bin is provided for disposal of bathroom products. x) All occupants must sign a waiver prior to boarding. 4. Term: The Vessel will be made available for a period agreed on between our company and the Customer. Customer acknowledges that weather conditions may necessitate an adjustment to the start and/or end time of the rental period. Delays of up to one hour should be accounted for in scheduling. Should weather or other marine conditions require more than one hour of scheduling adjustment, this agreement will become subject to the Rescheduling and Cancellation terms defined below. 5. Arrival: Customers should arrive at the dock 15 minutes prior to the start of their sailing time as booked in our system. Late arrivals will result in late departure but will not extend the Term of the charter. 6. Rescheduling and Cancellation: Our company reserves the right to reschedule the rental period if marine conditions make the proposed Term untenable for any reason. Unless Customer purchases Weather Protection as an add-on to their charter, Customer has no right to reschedule or cancel their sail once booked. 7. Abort: Our company reserves the right to abort the sail at any time if the officer in charge deems the behavior or actions of Customer or occupants to be unsafe, or a risk to the Vessel, the occupants, or the crew. No refunds will be issued if a booking is aborted under this clause. 8. Occupancy: Up to 8 non-crew occupants – including all passengers, guests, staff, models, clients, photographers, artists, etc. – are permitted on the Vessel. Attendees beyond this limit will remain on shore. 9. Condition: The Vessel will be made available in a clean and unadorned condition. No decorations or alterations are included by default. Alterations to the Vessel will be made at the Customer’s expense if so desired and under authorization of our company. 10. Reservation and Payment: Payment is due in full at the time of booking, and no rental is considered final until 100% of payment has been processed. 11. Customer Liability: Customer is liable for all property and equipment brought on board the Vessel and acknowledges that the marine environment exposes personnel and equipment to heightened risks. Customer is additionally liable for damage to the Vessel caused by occupants or improper handling or stowage of equipment, as well as any lost income that results from the Vessel being unavailable due to repair, cleaning, or refitting made necessary by the actions of occupants. 12. Release and Indemnity: Customer indemnifies and releases our company, its employees, agents, directors, officers, contractors, and any other individual for whom our company is under law responsible from, and shall hold each of them harmless for, all losses, illness, harm, death, and damages to occupants or their equipment or goods, of any kind, related to the Vessel or operation thereof by our company’s authorized representatives. 13. Taxes: All bookings are subject to applicable HST. 14. Validity and Enforceability: If any part or clause of this agreement becomes unenforceable, all remaining parts shall remain valid and enforceable. 15. Amendment: Any amendment to these terms must be made in writing and acknowledged by an agreement signed by both parties. 16. Waiver: No delay or failure of either party to exercise a right identified herein shall constitute a waiver of that right or any other right under this agreement. 17. Good Faith: Both parties agree to act reasonably and in good faith with regard to the execution of the terms of this agreement. Weather Policy Charters will sail rain or shine unless the Captain determines that conditions are unsafe, or that rain will take up a majority of the scheduled sail. If this happens, we will reschedule your sail to suit your calendar. Cancellation Protection If you’d like the option of canceling your charter (for any reason, including weather) without our input, you can purchase Cancellation Protection for 18% of the cost of your charter. That insurance is non-refundable. If you decide, for any reason, to cancel your sail, the rest of your charter cost will be refunded, no questions asked.
