Since the year 2000 Curonian Spit is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. While mostly known for its drifting sand dunes, pine forests, elks and fine beaches, Curonian Spit also offers rich cultural heritage of traditional fishermen’s way of life, ethnic group Curonians (Kuršiai) and East Prussian history. Kayaking route stretches along the coastline of nature reserve, which is only accessible by water. Discover majestic sand dunes while paddling on the safe and shallow waters of the Curonian Lagoon, watch “fisherman’s best friends” cormorants fishing on the lagoon and learn more about Curonian Spit from the local guide. This tour is safe and suitable for beginners. Swimming skills are required and previous paddling experience is not necessary. However we might change our route depending on weather conditions. The guide will take pictures during the tour and send photos to you afterwards so you don’t need to risk your camera on the water. Please dress according to the weather conditions and use outdoor clothing incl. a rain jacket and light footwear if you have a chance. It is recommended to take an extra set of clothes to change after the tour. You can keep them in the dry bags and kayak hatches while paddling.
