Our boat is a bristol clean 28' center console with twin 300 Yamaha 300's, to get you where you want fast, radar for safety, an onboard head (toilet), and a small cooler/refrigerator. With comfortable bow seating up front and full fishing facilities in the cockpit, this is a family boat and a fishing boat for whatever your preferences. For low speed local cruising (under 10mph) I can set up a bow shade for sun protection. For SCUBA divers and surfers, there is port side access at the waterline for easier entry and exit in addition to the rear drop down ladder. The owner/captain is a licensed USCG captain with over 30 years of boating experience including deck-handing on private fishing charters. He will always be the operator of the boat. I can provide local tips and references for whatever your boating interests are. Ask for more details. I am not a fishing charter but I can help to accommodate equipment, get you to local fishing spots, acquire bait, and any other needs including a few complimentary loaner rod/reels . I have fished the local area pretty extensively so I know some pretty reliable fishing spots. Of coarse no fishing excursion is ever guaranteed. I won't bait your hook or tie your knots but I will help you as much as I can to put fish on the boat to keep or catch and release. As an avid fisherman myself, I stay up to date every morning on what's biting and where. She has advanced GPS with relief shading as well as GPS anchoring for position and heading hold over areas of interest without physical anchoring. As with all offshore boating, weather and sea conditions dictate where and how fast/far a day of boating may offer. I will never take the boat out when there is a small craft advisory in effect and there will not be any cancellation fees if that happens. Pricing: Price based on length of rental with a 3 hour minimum for up to 4 guests and does not include fuel which is charged at the current Dana Point Fuel Dock price. If you are interested in a day out, whether it is for a local coastal cruise, long range excursion, fishing, diving, or even a water entry into the local surf spots, let me know what your expectations are and I will try to accommodate them. If I can't, I will let you know that as well. I would rather have no customer than an unhappy customer!
Glen was a perfect host and delivered on a great fishing experience. In addition to catching a lot of fish, we learned a lot from him!

Terms and Conditions Policies: The captain’s primary and official duty is to operate the vessel and ensure safety at all times. Any additional assistance is complimentary. That being said, as long as it does not interfere with the operation of the vessel, the captain will provide aid and guidance to help ensure the best possible experience. If you know you will be requesting particular assistance, please make all requests BEFORE departure to help in meeting your request. Please arrive at least 20 minutes before the scheduled departure time or for surfing and diving, 45 minutes. Your time starts when we leave the dock if you arrive with enough advance time to get settled on the vessel. If you arrive more than 10 minutes later than your booked departure time, the rental duration will begin at 10 minutes past your booked departure time. Please do not assume that the captain understands what your needs are. For example, if you wish to go fishing, it is up to you to request or arrange to ensure that you have the equipment you need as well as a general understanding of what your expectations are in regard to what and where you would like to fish. If you are just wanting to take a cruise, you need to have in mind where and how far/fast you would like to go. For divers and surfers, you need to have an idea of where you want to go and what equipment you may need when you get there. If you are unsure of any of the logistics, please notify the captain ahead of time to help you with any of the details. If you are from out of town, the captain will help you find locations to acquire what you may need. Smoking of tobacco products is only allowed at the bow. Any damage to cushions will be assessed at a minimum of $200 per cushion damaged due to smoking. This will be strictly enforced. Smoking marijuana or use of any controlled substance is strictly prohibited. The passenger count is strictly limited to 4 with the exception of slow cruise burial at sea in which case the number is 6. There is seating for one at the helm and two behind the helm protected from wind at high-speed travel. There is additional seating at the bow but be aware of exposure to wind when traveling at high speeds. A head (toilet) is available for use when at sea. Before departure, you may find it much easier to use the marina facilities. Loaner Equipment Available For Use: · 2 spinning rods and reels · 2 lightweight bait caster rods suitable for finicky fish as well as young children. · 2 trolling rod and reels for medium weight trolling. · For bookings of 6 hours or longer, 2 complimentary electric reels for deep water fishing may be available. Ask the captain in advance. Use of the electric reels will require prior deposit for appropriate weights @ $3.50 per pound which will be refunded upon return. · Hooks, weights, and leader will only be charged if lost. If you know what kind of fishing you would like to do, the captain will set up the rods with the proper rigging ahead of time. Any alterations at sea will be the responsibility of the user. · Fillet knives and cutting board. Cleaning of fish is absolutely prohibited per Dana Point Harbor regulations within the harbor. The captain will assist with filleting legally kept fish as long as it does not interfere with operation of the vessel however it will be conducted at sea/anchor and will be included in the duration of the booking period. · Surfboard/paddleboard racks for up to four surfboards or two paddleboards. These absolutely must be requested in advance. No day of installation is possible. · If you will be drinking red wine, the captain will provide spill proof wine cups. No red wine in open wine glasses will be allowed. Local Opportunities: Cruising: · Whale/dolphin watching. Obviously, no guarantees. Whales are very seasonal and random, dolphins on the other hand can usually be found off the coast. The captain has gyro stabilized binoculars to assist in finding active sea life. · Coastal cruising along the Laguna Beach coast. During the summer months, when/if the water warms up, there is a natural swimming pool that can be accessed by competent swimmers from the anchored boat. There are also many nice coves that will accommodate a dip in the ocean. Swimmers must be confident of their swimming ability in the ocean. Seafire has a transom ladder for easy re-entry into the vessel. · For low speed (Under 8mph) a bow shade can be installed along with a table at the bow. These must be requested in advance and are dependent on the predicted weather and sea conditions. If anchored for over 2 hours, the bow shade can be put up at sea but it still needs to be requested in advance. Fishing: · Local shallow water fishing for Calico Bass, Sheepshead, and Sculpin. These are in fairly shallow water and can be fished while anchored. Best during warmer water months with water temperatures over 66 degrees. · Halibut fishing in local waters. This is drift fishing and more of a high risk, high reward type of fishing. · Medium depth rockfishing two miles off the coast in 250’ to 350’ of water. Rockfishing is very strictly regulated and available only in certain months of the year. · Deep water rockfishing halfway to Catalina @ the 14-mile bank. This is a minimum 6-hour trip with a 45-minute ride each way. In order to avoid wind and rough seas, this trip must start no later than 6:30am. Electric reels may be available for depths up to 950’. · Offshore pelagic fishing. During the late summer months and early fall, Dorado, Yellowtail, and Tuna can be found in kelp paddies and feeding schools. This is more of a treasure hunt type of fishing as the paddies and schools can be anywhere on any given day. Even when you find them, they don’t always bite. Definitely high risk, high reward. Can be just a long boat ride. For this type of fishing, the guests will be pretty much entirely responsible for all aspects of the trip and success will depend on their ability and luck. The captain can provide the most current information regarding recent fishing reports of the area. · Seafire is equipped with advanced sonar with relief shading. She is also equipped with a GPS anchoring system that can hold the vessel over a spot using the outboard engines. The ability to use this system is wind dependent, however. Any wind over 6 mph makes the system impractical to use. Diving: Laguna is a diver’s mecca. The entire coast off the city is a Marine Protected Area. No fishing or taking of marine life is allowed so marine life is most abundant here. There are also some small reefs very close to Dana Point both north and south in fairly shallow water. There is a dive shop very close to the harbor for tank and equipment rental. Seafire has a port access door for easy entry and exit from the water and the livewell at the stern will hold up to three dive tanks. · For the brave paddy spear fishermen, this also provides an easier way to get your catch aboard as well as yourself. Surfing/Paddleboarding: · If you want to avoid parking and a paddle out, try a boat entry to one of the local surfing spots. This is only offered to experienced swimmers and surfers who know when and where they want to go surfing. Seafire does not have a shower or hot water but she does have enough fresh water aboard for a freshwater hose wash. · Paddleboards may be allowed but they must be inflatable and absolutely inflated before you arrive at the dock. Please advise the captain ahead of time to discuss. · For any boards over 7’ that will require racks, they must be requested ahead of time. Only four surfboards/two paddleboards will fit in the rack so plan accordingly. Burial at Sea: · All requests for burial at sea (scattering of ashes) require a permit. They are $12 and may be obtained at: OC Health Care Agency (HCA) site. · The captain will provide a complimentary environmentally safe urn for your loved one. A plain one is free Customization can be arranged for an additional charge depending on complexity. Customization starts @ $30.00. Ask for details. · All burials at sea must be made at a minimum of 3 miles from shore. The capacity number will be modified for slow cruise burial at sea requests from 4 to a maximum of 6. Bow shade and bow table will be available upon advance request. · If music is desired for the ceremony, please make your playlist available in advance to the captain.
