Since 2013, our company offers day sailing trips along Sal Island West Coast, in Cape Verde. It is the oldest operating sailing tours company in Sal, trusted by the best tour operators around the world and local guides. Full day starts at 10 am, in group of maximum 12 people. It is possible to rent the boat for a private option (see listing) and/or for a special event. Vahine is a Dufour 455 Grand Large, with a spacious cockpit, comfortable cushions and an elegant line, spray hood and bimini cover, it is the perfect choice to enjoy a whole day at sea. The full day fee is 130 Euro per person and it includes drinks (beer, white and rosè wine, soft drinks) a light snack (chips, cookies, tuna canapés), and a delicious lunch, which is freshly cooked on board and it consists of tuna steak with rice and vegetables. There will be a stop for swimming and snorkeling (equipment on board), and fishing (trolling) while sailing. There will be the possibility to encounter wildlife (dolphins, pilot whales, humpback whales from march-may, flying fishes, turtles), but it is not guaranteed. The trip lasts 6 hours, departure from Santa Maria jetty, meeting time 15 minutes prior departure, 9.45 am at the pier in Santa Maria. Our skipper and deckhand always accompany you, from the beginning to the very end of the excursion, and they speak English and other several languages. Terms and Conditions Cancellation Our company reserves the right to change or cancel your booking in accordance with operating requirements or circumstances beyond its control (for ex. uncomfortable or dangerous sailing conditions due to the weather, sudden need of maintenance or technical problems). We do not guarantee that your tour will take place at the scheduled time. Schedules may change without notice for a variety of reasons including, but not limited, to bad weather and technical disruptions. We reserve the right to cancel or change a tour or to replace any boats at any time in the interests of passenger safety. Weather and sea conditions can change quickly and this may alter the status of your tour at any time. In rough sea conditions, the boat captain may increase child age limits or place restrictions on or refuse to carry passengers with medical conditions and/or limited mobility and on passengers who are pregnant. Should change or cancellation prove necessary, we will give you reasonable notice with a message and/or our staff will be at the meeting point to provide any explanations, apologies and offer you the possibility to get refund or if possible, to offer you a comparable alternative. All refunds will be returned by the same method of payment. We can not be held responsible for any fees your bank charge to accept this refund. To cancel or change your booking please contact us through GetMyBoat. Any change or cancellation requires minimum 48 hours notice, 5 days in case of private trips. On the contrary your prepayment will not be refund. Tour details and Conditions Our company strives to provide a safe, enjoyable and memorable travel experience for all traveller. We welcomes travellers with special needs or disabilities. However, please note the following: • Traveller are required to advise us, in advance, of any physical, medical or other special needs that require accommodation. • All guests must ensure they are medically and physically fit for travel. Check-in deadlines apply and may be strictly enforced. To help us get your tour away on time, ensure you are at the departure point by the time specified. Arrival after the check-in deadline may result in you losing your tour and the entire fare paid. Meeting time for check-in should be 15 minutes in advance of the departure time. The ticket if not specified does not include the transfer from your hotel to the departure point. Taxis in Sal are available at any time of the day and you could easily arrange one from the hotel reception. Please consider the time you need for transfer and get in contact with us in case of any delay. Meeting point is at the end of the jetty (Pontao) in Santa Maria, where local fishermen come every morning. You need to walk until the end of the pontoon where you will see some stairs going into the water. Our staff member will be waiting for your arrival, wearing clothes with our logo printed on. Our stewardess the pier will welcome you and check your ticket. Transfer to the sailing boat will be with a dinghy. There is no proper marina in Sal, and our boat has mooring in Santa Maria bay. Departure point could be moved to Palmeira or Bikini Beach Club, in that case you will have previous notice at booking time, or in case of last minute captain’s decision you will be offered transport to the new departure point. Please note that you should follow crew instructions during the transfer and ask for any extra help if needed in case of physical difficulties. Activities on board We provide snorkeling gears, but feel free to bring your own if you prefer. Snorkeling depends on visibility and conditions of the sea, as well as the spot chosen for anchoring. Fishing will be trolling with fishing roots hanged at the back of the boat. Whales and dolphins watching. We could also spot some flying fishes or turtles. Wildlife presence depending on the season and not granted. Guarantee: There is no guarantee that whales or dolphins will be seen on your tour. There is no guarantee that we will catch a fish while sailing. In some weather or sea conditions for safety reasons snorkeling could be cancelled. Ship Rules Passengers on board are obliged to adhere to the ship rules, as captain is responsible for the safety of all passengers and the crew. Captain has the right to change the itinerary in case of bad weather or similar inappropriate conditions to ensure safety on board. Jumping or diving from the boat during navigation is strictly forbidden. Climbing on the masts is also forbidden. During rough weather movement should be done with care and as little as possible. The floors can often be wet and slippery. Passengers should take extra care while moving onboard. Safety jackets are placed under the seats in the dining area or in the front cabin. They are mandatory during the transfers and they can be used on request during the trip. Children under 3 should wear lifejackets all the time. Clients are responsible for looking after their personal belongings whilst travelling. The Operator cannot be held responsible for any personal belongings left behind or damaged on any trip. Toilets are provided with water pump: ask at the crew for instructions. It is forbidden to throw anything in the toilet except toilet paper. Clients are responsible for any voluntary or involuntary damage to the boat, that should be reported to the crew. Your personal travel insurance will be asked to cover for the damages. It is strictly forbidden to throw rubbish or cigarettes into the sea. The captain and the crew will be available for any questions or queries and will do their best to make your stay on board a most pleasurable one. You are welcome to tip your crew at your own discretion.
