Let's Go Sail operates in Gloucester Point, Virginia to cruise the majestic York River. Book the Hunter 320 Sailing Yacht for up to 6 people. Rates as low as $165 for couple. We depart twice daily from April through November with a licensed USCG Master Captain onboard. Reservations are first-come, first-served.   Rates: • Couples: $165 • Families: $270 • Groups: $375 What To Expect Onboard: When you join us for your sailboat charter, you’ll sail on a 32-foot modern Hunter complete with in-mast furling and oversized sails for maximum speed. Sophisticated controls reduce the size of the sails to minimize leaning and ensure everyone’s comfort. A giant colorful spinnaker is raised for light downwind running. Yanmar 18 horsepower diesel powers the boat to and from the marina. ADVENTURE - Our most popular cruise enables people to sit back and relax while taking in the birds and dolphins (!) of the York River. Check out the Navy ships that transit the giant Coleman Bridge every 3rd or 4th Monday. Watch Air Force One fly overhead every other Thursday.  LESSONS - With informal and optional instruction, you can learn to sail in 20 minutes. Over the course of 3 hours, you'll learn to sail most any boat. The boat meets all US Coast Guard standards and has shipshape equipment, including color-coordinated lines and well-marked blocks. HISTORY - An optional, two-part lecture briefly describes and illustrates the two battles from 1781 that ensured America's victory in the Revolutionary War. APPRECIATION - Leaders of business and government can show their appreciation by taking five employees on a unique cruise to thank them for their recent accomplishments. REAL ESTATE - Our unique Realty Cruise shows a range of houses along the shore. Learn how storms and climate change have affected the prices and practicality of riverfront living.

Captain Bill was a fantastic host for our inaugural sailing adventure in the York River out of Gloucester Point, VA. We booked him for a Saturday afternoon in June for a 2:30 to 5:30 cruise and it was everything we could have asked for and more. He explained the region's waters and relation to the Chesapeake Bay as well as the naval and nautical history of the area in addition to teaching us about his boat and how to sail it properly. We wanted to be immersed in the experience and he let us be very hands on, giving direction for assisting with deploying the sails, commanding the helm, reading the wind and performing the tacking maneuvers while being at the helm. We also had a chance to relax on the forward section of the deck as Bill took over, he passed our libations to us and helped us enjoy the experience of sailing while soft music played that even invited an interaction with one of the regions local dolphin who accompanied and entertained us for well over a half an hour on our return up the river. What an awesome way to spend an afternoon.

Bill was awesome. Very communicative leading up to the sail with weather, directions, and other logistical specifics. The trip left and returned on time, Bill was very knowledgeable about the boat and the area, let my wife and I take the helm several times and the boat was in great condition. Would totally sail with Cpt Bill again.

Additional Terms & Information

Frequently Asked Questions How does pricing work? $55 per hour for Couples, $90 per hour for Families, $125 per hour for Groups. What’s Included? A cooler with bottled water and ice is on board for your drinks, along with the full amenities of an appointed interior salon. Is There A Bathroom? Yes, a working head plus hot and cold water. There’s privacy to change into bathing suits. What Should I Wear? Bring a sweater and jacket in the fall. Are Life Jackets Provided? Yes, certified US Coast Guard PFDs are provided. What About Children? Kids 12 and under  have to wear life jackets regardless.  Can We Take More People? No, six maximum. Coast Guard regulations preclude any more, including children. Can We Bring Beer and Wine? Oh sure. Bottled water is provided too. What If It Rains? We’ll try to reschedule your sailboat charter. Sometimes an afternoon shower interrupts a sail, but only briefly. If the trip is washed out, you won't be charged. What About Thunderstorms? They usually pop up in late afternoon, so an 11 a.m. departure is best. Do You Have Shade From The Sun? Yes, a Bimini awning covers the back quarter of the cockpit. What About Getting Seasick? It's highly unlikely, since the waves on an inland river are much gentler than those found on the Chesapeake Bay or Atlantic Ocean. For those in doubt, take Dramamine the night before to get it fully into your system. We also have motion sickness wristbands and ginger gum on board.
