Our skipper is a native of west Clare, has plenty of experience as a skipper.  He has fished the coastline from Kilbaha to Kilkee for years and has acquired a vast knowledge of the area and its fish. Fishing Trip Adventures We operate from the beautiful unspoilt fishing village of Kilbaha on the Loop Head Peninsula and ” Wild Atlantic Way” where the Shannon Estuary meets the mighty Atlantic Ocean. And the beauty of it is you don’t have to spend hours on the boat travelling to and from the fishing grounds they are right on our doorstep. The Atlantic Ocean on the west coast of Clare is renowned for it’s abundance of fish species, too numerous to mention them all, but mackerel, cod, ling, pollock ,whiting, haddock, wrasse, and flatfish would be some of the more plentiful species. And of course not forgetting our shark species like blue, porbeagle, tope, spurdog, dogfish, bullhuss, and ray. Fishing Adventures is involved with the Marine Sportfish Tagging Programme so all our shark’s are tagged and released unharmed. On leaving the pier at Kilbaha it takes 15-20 minutes to reach Loop Head (lighthouse) the furthermost tip of County Clare and the Loop Head Peninsula. The scenery from the boat is breathtaking and there is an abundance of sea life, sea birds, dolphins, seals, basking shark’s and whales also have been spotted. We usually fish for mackerel here while taking in the views before moving off for different species of fish, depending on what species you prefer. If it happens the weather is not suitable for fishing the Atlantic Ocean we have the option of heading back up the Shannon Estuary to fish with the boat at anchor. It can be a very leisurely and enjoyable experience to fish for tope, conger, bullhuss, ray, etc, using mackerel,squid, or other bait’s. Some people prefer this more relaxed type of fishing so whatever you fancy we will cater for your needs. Fishing Adventures also caters for families, stag parties, hen parties, or any other groups that might want to take a day out of their busy schedule and get away from it all to do a spot of fishing or sightseeing. Kilbaha has two pub restaurant’s where they will be happy to cook some of your catch and where you can enjoy a beautiful meal, taking in the views in the company of friendly helpful staff to round off your day at sea. What To Expect Onboard: We operate a Lochin 33 fast workboat for Sea Angling the "Lady Gwen II" She is a heavily built sturdy boat with ample deck space and seating to cater for 10 anglers and plenty of room for fishing gear and of course your catch. She also has a big supply of fishing gear, rods and reels, hooks, rigs, feathers, shark and tope traces, leads, etc, and of course a toilet. The "Lady Gwen II" is a 10m GRP Lochin with a Perkins M265Ti engine. Built in Rye Sussex the Lochin's are renowned for their sea keeping abilities. She is licensed and insured for 10 anglers, and has a full complement of safety gear including liferaft. She was refurbished last year with state of the art upgrades to safety, navigational and fishfinding electronics as well as Shakespeare, Abu Garcia, and Penn rods and reels.
