Frequently Asked Question Do i need travel insurance for a trip on board the Traditional Phinisi Schooner Yes, it’s a MUST that all travelers on board have insurance, covering all medical expenses, including air- evacuation and repatriation. We highly recommend you to get flight and luggage insurance as well, because all of these issues are on the risk of the visitor. How many guests will be on the boat with me? Max. 10 guests on board during a standard trip and up to 11 guests in case of a private booking. Do i need a Visa for Indonesia? Most nations are permitted to stay in Indonesia 30 days without visa needed. Your Passport has to be valid at least 6 months after planned entrance. But we recommend you to check with the Indonesian Embassy in your country which visa regulations will apply for you. What are the travel essential i should bring on board? You won´t need a lot on board but there are some important things you should bring which we put together in this Checklist Can i plan my own route and itinerary? You can surely do that if rent the charter privately (please contact us for private charter booking). Together with the Captain, we can customize the route to meet your special requests or purposes. For an open trip there is a general itinerary and the surf guide will be responsible for decision which spot to go. But of course all the guests will be free to discuss their special requests with the guide who will try to meet them! What are the potential health risks on a trip to Indonesia? The risks to health whilst traveling will vary between individuals and many issues need to be taken into account, e.g. length of stay and general health of the traveller. We strongly recommended that you consult with your General Practitioner few weeks in advance of travel. They will assess your particular health risks before recommending vaccines and /or antimalarial tablets. As you are going to the tropical country, there is always a risk of diseases transmitted by mosquitoes. Is snorkeling equipment on board? We do have some sets of goggles and fins on board but we recommend to bring your own equipment as it is hard to provide the right size of snorkeling gear for everyone. How many boards should i bring? This is entirely up to you but most people bring 2-3 boards. Just make sure you have an extra board in case something happens to your basic one. What type of power adaptor do i need to bring to charge my electronic devices? RFC uses European-style two-pin round plugs (220 V 50 Hz) which you will find all around Indonesia. Though we carry some of the adaptors on board, we recommend you to bring your own to be sure you have it at hand. How much money do i need on board? It’s up to you, but basically you have most things covered already to have an enjoyable trip with us: AccommodationSpot guidance during the trip 3 freshly cooked meals per dayHealthy snacks Soft drinks, tea, coffee Should i be an advanced surfer to join the boat trip? What sort of conditions can i expect? No. But as surf spots we’re planning to go during the trip are mostly reef breaks we expect all the surfers to be reef-experienced and capable of doing basic surf maneuvers by their own. So open trips are not for complete beginners as the guide available on board is a spot guide, not a surf instructor. We are sure you can assess your surf level consciously and make decision if you are ready to join an open trip. As for the private charters (please contact us for private charter booking) we can assist you in finding a surf guide to join your trip upon request. Please read more about the spots here (link to the page with spot descriptions), but in general we expect swell to be 5-8 feet during dry season (May-October) and around 4-5 feet in wet season (November-April). July and August are famous for the biggest swells! So we suggest you plan your trip accordingly and check the forecast beforehand. Also you can always contact us for more detailed info about upcoming surf conditions
