Example Itinerary: 9-Day Gulf Gökova Experience with Captain Tolga Day 1: Turgutreis D-Marin Marina – Bodrum Karaada (Black Island) Yassıkaya Bay Your experience will begin at Turgutreis D-marin Marina in Bodrum. Captain Rıza Tolga Ülman will welcome aboard S/Y Amos. After placing your luggage in your cabins, and a brief introduction about life on board the sailboat, you will depart the marina and set sail to Bodrum’s Yassıkaya Bay on the South tip of Karaada (Black Island). On the way, Captain Tolga will show you the basics of sailing and navigation at sea, and you will have the opportunity to control the sails and the helm if you wish (and you will have many more chances throughout the journey). Once you reach Yassıkaya Bay, you will be anchoring to your spot for the night. You will have plenty of time to swim, dive, stand-up paddleboard and have fun in the sea. Amos S/Y has all the equipment you will need. Your captain will prepare your dinner and you will spend your first night onboard. Day 2: Yassıkaya Bay – Kargıcık Bay – Kissebükü Captain Tolga will prepare your breakfast in the morning (every morning). After breakfast, you will collect your anchor and set sail for Kargıcık Bay which is only about an hour away. In Kargıcık, you will have a long lunch break with lots of time to enjoy the sun and the pure blue water. In the afternoon, you will sail for about an hour and arrive in Kissebükü. You can enjoy the natural views and relax in the evening on the comfortable S/Y Amos. You will have dinner here on the boat and spend the night in this quiet and peaceful bay. Day 3: Kissebükü – Datça/Kairos Marina After breakfast in Kissebükü, S/Y Amos will set sail across Gulf Gökova, crossing to the South side, and dock at Kairos Marina after 3-4 hours of journey. You will spend the rest of the day and night here at Kairos Marina, which is only a 10 minutes cab ride away from Datça. You can spend this afternoon and evening sightseeing in Datça, a cute summer town where you can taste local foods and wines, and enjoy the sunset views as well as a vibrant nightlife. Alternatively stay onboard and take advantage of the delicious menus offered at the bars and restaurants at the marina. Day 4: Kairos Marina – Tatlısu Bay Once you have breakfast and Amos is re-stocked and ready to leave the marina, you will sail eastward. After a few hours of journey, you will arrive at Tatlısu Bay. Tatlısu, which means “sweet water” in Turkish, is one of many of the beautiful bays in Gökova. Captain Tolga will prepare lunch, and the rest of the day will be time to relax onboard and enjoy the waters. Dinner will be prepared here as well, and if you get lucky, you will enjoy a great Moonrise. Day 5: Tatlısu Bay – Seven Islands – Ayın Bay Continue the adventure from Tatlısu Bay to Seven Islands, an area of secluded beaches and natural beauty that cannot be reached by land. Explore the different small bays by dinghy or by swimming. After lunch, you will sail to Ayın Bay, one of Captain Tolga’s favorite bays in the Gulf. Have fun in the clear waters and take a nice walk on the shore on natural paths. Enjoy your dinner and spend a restful night at this quiet location. Day 6: Ayın Bay – Cleopatra Beach (Sedir Island) – Akbük – Ören Marina S/Y Amos will collect anchor while you are sleeping. Your captain will wake you up with breakfast ready and anchored in front of Sedir Island. After breakfast, you will have a chance to visit the UNESCO world heritage site which is an open-air museum. The island contains historical sites of an ancient Greek city state, as well as a unique sand beach called Cleopatra Beach, believed to have been brought by Cleopatra from Egypt. Later, head towards Akbük, a charming fishing village with a calm and peaceful atmosphere. After a lunch and swimming break here, you will sail West for about an hour and arrive at Ören Marina for the night. Ören is a cute town with a high-end marina. Here, visit local markets, taste delicious seafood, and immerse yourself in the laid-back coastal lifestyle. Dine at a great seafood restaurant recommended by your Captain. Day 7: Ören Marina – Çökertme After breakfast, continue your experience from Ören towards Çökertme. Arrive at Çökertme Bay, a serene bay surrounded by pine forests, by lunch. I currently own a 2013 Model Sun Odyssey 409 in Turgutreis D-Marin Marina, Bodrum, Turkey. I truly love Jeanneau and Sun Odyssey. My boating experience started when I was 10 years old and my parents and I chartered a large sailboat together with family friends and stumbled our way into a difficult but amazingly life changing love of sailing and boating. I have been on more than 10 sailboats and experienced charters in 5 different spots around the Mediterrenean. My favorite part about sailing in the Mediterenean is that Turkey and Greece are really close to each other and there are thousands of beautiful and secure bays :) I have an official Turkish national skipper's license.
