Jarad is a licensed 50-ton USCG captain. While growing up in Southern New Jersey, boating has always been a staple for Jarad and his family. After a two-week sailing getaway in 2006 with close friends in Barnstable, Massachusetts, he got hooked. Less than a year later, he bought a 22 ft daysailor with wife, Christel Astin and together they learned to sail on Jamaica Bay. In 2012, they lost their apartment and all possessions to Hurricane Sandy in the Rockaways and decided to take a leap: Buy a larger vessel and high tail it to the Caribbean.

Welcome Aboard! You will enjoy a taste of wild NYC in classic luxury aboard the schooner “Deliverance,” the only private schooner in NYC. We sail the sheltered waters of Jamaica Bay and Sheepshead Sound, providing amazing views of NYC from the wildlife refuge. All sails are BYOB, water and soft drinks are provided along with light snacks and lunch (full day sails only). We also offer fireworks sails, sunsets and much more. Contact us with special requests, and Captain Jarad Astin will be sure to accommodate. please arrive at the dock at least 15 minutes from your scheduled sail - the vessel is on a mooring, and you will be brought to her aboard our classic Chesapeake bay skiff “Turtle,” an experience in and of itself! We require a 50% deposit to schedule you sail, and waivers will be sent to you electronically - these must be signed prior to departure.
