TL/DR: Chris and his boat saved my life. Want to impress the yacht club or trophy wife? Skip it. Want to have a great time with your friends, spouse, kids, etc.? This is the boat for you. Yes, it shows a little wear; who doesn’t? Comes with (2) complimentary bumpers, (2) complimentary anchors, a bunch of life vests, and (2) complimentary mooring lines. The motor starts when you want and runs like a top – does what you want it to do. The kids will love it and everyone will know you can deliver the goods. This is a great deal! Chris is a peach and very easygoing – a nice, happy guy, with great karma, who is easy to deal with. My Story: My marriage and the rest of my life were in dire straits. “Counseling” was knocking at the door and lawyers were just over the horizon. I knew I had to pull off a fantastic feat. To this end, I pulled the trigger on this boat. Once I’d clicked “submit,” Chris immediately reached out. I explained my situation: to save my marriage, my children’s love, and my own self-respect, I had to pull off a grand scheme -- I planned to use Chris’s boat to further my application to the local Yacht Club. Admission into that rarified air would surely convince my spouse of my worth and earn my children’s admiration and love. I had applied years before. My application bounced through criminal background and credit checks, interviews with personal references, and more. It all boiled down to an “interview cruise” with my “member sponsor.” Good Lord . . . an “interview cruise.” I laid it all out for Chris. There was a long pause. Chris let out a slow and knowing sigh and, sounding like the Dalai Lama, said “I can help, but the path of the boat is the way – the boat is the only way.” I knew I was in good hands. I met Chris at the appointed time. He had the boat ready (full tank and new propeller!) and gave me the primer on the blower, bilge, starting procedure, and safety requirements. At a nominal cost, he added a “tube” and towing line to help me celebrate with my wife and kids after my sure-to-come success at the yacht-club-interview cruise. Chris even threw in a 110 VAC air pump (not one of those chintzy cigarette-lighter pumps so many boat renters offer) to fill the “tube.” I hopped in the boat, fired her up, and set out for the Yacht Club profoundly confident and secure in my plan knowing it was backed by Chris’s wisdom. As I approached the yacht club’s dock I first observed my “sponsor.” He stood at the end of their dock dressed in his club-specified white-Izod-under-blue-blazer-and-khakis-with-boat-shoes. Think: “Thurston Howell, III.” I realized that I was underdressed and that he looked like trouble but I remembered Chris's mantra: “follow the-path-of-the-boat” and felt reassured. My heart swelled with pride as I approached and saw my sponsor’s eyes widen in awe at my (Chris’s) craft. His jaw dropped as I pulled alongside waiting to hear his request for “permission to come aboard.” I didn’t hear his words and could only lip-read something along the lines of “Oh, my Holy God . . . look at this . . . . .” Not wanting to offend and jeopardize my admission prospects, I happily announced, “PERMISSION GRANTED!” My membership sponsor stepped aboard and smushed his feet amongst Chris’s (2) complimentary bumpers, (2) complimentary anchors, and (2) complimentary mooring lines. “Oh, don’t mind those,” I said – “ha, ha, they come with the territory, don’t they?” I powered away onto the lake with my Izod-clad sponsor. We cruised, talked, and he soon brought up unsavory topics like boat ownership and title papers. I showed him my Michigan driver’s license, an expired credit card, a voter ID card, and pointed to the current registration sticker and numbers clearly displayed on the bow (Chris keeps that all up-to-date). “It can’t get any clearer than that, can it?” “Is it me?” I wondered. “Do you even OWN a watercraft, Mr. C.?,” he asked. It wasn’t until this point that I realized this sponsor guy was a jerk and I wouldn’t want to be a member of a club that would allow him as a member. One of us would have to go. After pushing him overboard near the yacht club dock, I powered back to the rented lake cabin where my spouse and kids awaited my arrival. I didn’t know how to -- or even if I SHOULD -- tell them the bad news: that we would never be members of the yacht club. As I approached the rental cabin dock my spouse’s and kids’ eyes widened in awe at my (Chris’s) craft. Their jaws dropped as I pulled alongside and they screamed “PERMISSION TO COME ABOARD?!?!?” I was able to lip-read my wife’s words” “Oh, my Holy God . . . look at this wonderful boat” I happily announced, “PERMISSION GRANTED!” We powered off for a week of tubing, fishing, and happy family times together on the lake. Chris’s wisdom – “follow the path of the boat” – kept me OUT of the yacht club, IN with my family . . . and saved my life. Thanks, Chris . . and Thanks, Chris's Boat.

Older boat as advertised but it gets the job done! Short ride to the Sandbar from the dock. This was our first visit to Torch Lake and plan to come back again! Only thing I would do different is to bring more floaties. Once you are at the sandbar you just want to float!
If you want clean sparkling water this is the place to go in Torch Lake Michigan! The Host Chris and his wife are very nice and very helpful! Told us which directions on the lake for food, gas and fun times! I will definantly rent a boat from them again! You cant beat the price!

Chris was great to communicate with. The weather was cold and raining on our rental date, so he allowed us to use the boatthe next day since no ones had it booked. The boat was easy to run and perfect for 4 adults hitting the sandbar for some fun.
The boat was nice and worked exactly like it was supposed to! Chris was super great to work with and very accommodating to everything we needed. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to get on the lake!
I am excited to be a part of the GetMyBoat movement in making boats more accessible and affordable to others. I hope to get out on the water more and help boating grow!
