Have Questions?

Do I need to pay a deposit to hold the reservation?

No, you never need to pay cash or a partial deposit to hold a reservation. After the boat owner sends you an offer, you can accept and confirm it. You will be charged the full amount of the booking, confirming your trip. Both parties will receive a confirmation email.

What happens when I accept an offer?

When you accept an offer, your credit card will be charged for the full amount of the offer at that time. Getmyboat does not allow partial payments or the use of multiple credit cards for a booking. The full amount is due and payable upon acceptance. However, your payment will not be transferred to the owner until the successful completion of the trip.

What is the service fee?

Getmyboat charges a small, proportional service fee for each booking, enabling instant and secure payment processing, fraud prevention, identity verification, and 24/7 customer support. The service fee is 13% for USD transactions and 16% for other currencies. It is non-refundable except in extenuating circumstances.

How and when do I get charged for my booking?

Getmyboat processes credit card charges through a third party. A credit card must be used to book. Once an offer is accepted, the customer’s credit card is charged the full amount of the offer, including the rental price and Getmyboat’s service fee. The security allowance is not charged at booking but only if the owner submits a valid claim post-rental.

How do I tip my captain?

Tipping is at your discretion. For boat charters, tipping 10%-20% is customary. Tips can be given directly in cash or through Getmyboat’s payment processing tool, Getmyboat Charge.

What type of payment does Getmyboat accept?

Getmyboat only accepts credit card payments, including Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, Union Pay, JCB, Diners Club, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. Prepaid credit cards are not accepted.

Can I pay outside of Getmyboat?

No, all bookings and payments must be completed through the Getmyboat platform to ensure secure transactions, 24/7 customer support, protection policies, and ease of refunds.

The only exception is for gratuities. While we require all major payments and fees to be processed through Getmyboat, tipping your captain or crew can be done directly and is often appreciated for excellent service.

How does Getmyboat ensure secure transactions?

Getmyboat uses industry-standard encryption for payment processing and provides dispute resolution support. Please report any requests for payment outside the platform to customer support.

What is a security allowance, and how is it used?

In order to protect boat owners against incidentals (when the renter or guests onboard do something that incurs an additional expense, like minor damage or cleaning), we have a protection in place called a security allowance. When you receive an offer on Getmyboat you may see an included amount at the bottom of the pricing section for this security allowance. It's always important to review this amount before you confirm your booking.

The security allowance is never charged as part of the booking payment, and does not act as an upfront “fee” or “deposit.” It's only activated if the boat owner makes a valid claim within 48 hours of the trip completion. If the boat owner does submit a claim for any incidentals, we are authorized to charge your credit card up to the amount of their listed security allowance. We will send you an email notification to let you know that a claim has been opened.

Any disputes regarding the claim should first be handled between you and the owner. If the dispute is not resolved then Getmyboat will assess evidence submitted by both parties, and will issue a payout to the owner or refund your credit card depending on the conclusion.
