We are a local family-owned yacht charter business providing great sailing opportunities in the region for over 27 years. Our skippered tours include daily scheduled sailing tours, private personalized sailing tours, and multi day sailing holidays in the Abel Tasman National Park and Nelson waters. We are the region’s longest operating and most extensive yacht charter company and the only regular scheduled sailing service. Our fleet includes 2 day sailing catamarans and 2 larger cruising sailing catamarans. We operate from Kaiteriteri Beach (the departure point for our scheduled day tours of the Abel Tasman) and Nelson where our larger catamarans are berthed. Our team are all passionate sailors and their local knowledge means you will experience the very best on your sailing holiday. We focus on experiencing the Abel Tasman National Park and our region, not just transport into it. We welcome the opportunity to have you sail with us!

Back in 1987, Ocean River embarked upon an exciting journey to become the leading rental sea kayaking operator in the Abel Tasman National Park. In 2009 we decided it was time for a name change to better reflect our geographical area and what we do, we are now called Abel Tasman Kayaks - Kayak Rentals.Many sunny days and many, many paddle strokes later we can say that we've grown a little bigger over the years, but we have never lost the passion for what we do, or the wonder of this environment. Our focus was, and still is, on protecting the Park for the benefit of current and future generations.And it's this blend of passion, professionalism and personalization that has created one of the largest kayaking operators in the country. As the owner of Abel Tasman Kayaks Freedom Rentals, I feel privileged to have our team introduce this beautiful place that we call home. Enjoy.
